Q: I'm looking for a supplemental policy to medical insurance provided at work for my sister. She is a diabetic that has a Medtronic insulin pump but her diabetes has been under control for over two years. Would she qualify for any supplemental plans? We are in Texas.

A: According to the article "Health Insurance for Diabetics" at FreedomBenefits.net there are at least three supplemental health insurance policies that can provide supplemental coverage. These can be used individually or in combination. Benefits are paid under the fee schedule regardless of other insurance that may be in force. All three are available in Texas: Value Health, Value Med, Basic Health Insurance
