HSA with Vanguard funds

Q: I enrolled in my company's HSA plan for 2006 but did not select any investment for the cash deposits. I want to invest in Vanguard funds but the only paperwork I have relates to insurance, not investments. What am I missing?

A: Opening a health savings account is a two step process. You completed the first step when you enrolled in your employer's high deductible health plan that meets HSA requirements. The second step is to open a HSA savings or investment account where you and your employer can make deposits. The HSA account application for investing in Vanguard funds can be downloaded from www.healthsavingsaccount-hsa.com. If your employer will be making the contributions, make sure they know the account number and address of the newly opened account.
