Fees for 1040.com self-filed tax returns
Some Freefile services only handle limited returns or fail to provide you with the full fee in advance. Last year I switched to endorsing 1040.com for all self-filed tax returns. This software is always up-to-date, requires no software purchase or installation, included E-filing, and securely handles any type of tax return. You always know the full cost in advance.
These fees are expected to remain the same throughout the entire 2014 tax filing season but could change. Pricing is outside of my control.
1040EZ: Free self-serve online filing
1040A: $19.95 self-serve online filing
1040: $39.95 self-serve online filing
States: $19.95 self-serve online filing (one fee provides as many states as needed)
Extensions: Free self-serve online filing
Optional CPA review of self-filed return: $100 average (see the flat rate service page)
These fees include: online filing, direct deposit or regular mailing of refunds, personal service of CPA, personal review of all line items, follow-up tax planning session, audit assurance (see additional information)
What is not included in these fees: accounting work, mailing costs, refund advances, other banking services. If necessary or preferred, these services will be proposed at an additional fee.
