Q: I need supplemental health insurance to cover surgery on my spouse's knee next month. We have health insurance now, but it has a high deductible.
A: Supplemental health insurance policies contain either an exclusion or a waiting period for pre-existing medical conditions that would limit payments for the proposed knee surgery. The only way to get more liberal supplemental health insurance is to purchase it through an employer. The most liberal coverage available to individual purchasers is offered under "Basic Health Insurance" that covers all pre-existing medical conditions after the policy has been in force for six months. see www.Basichealthinsurance.net for more information pricing and online enrollment.
